The Italian-born artist Sergio Furnari will debut a monument depicting rightwing political commentator Charlie Kirk in New York City’s Times Square on the anniversary of his death.
“I want to exercise the first amendment. For those who don’t have the right to free speech! This statue is a symbol of freedom of open dialogue in the USA,” Furnari said in a post to Instagram. “Nobody should be hurt or killed for their speech. RIP Charlie Kirk.”
Kirk was shot dead on September 10, 2025, while speaking in an outdoor debate at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. The event was planned by Turning Point USA, the conservative youth organization he co-founded and led.
“Charlie Kirk monument handmade in nyc with my hand, soul and body,” Furnari said in another post to Instagram. “Unveiling set to be in Times Square New York City September 10. Everyone WELCOME!!”
Furnari has launched a fundraising campaign to fund the monument and has so far raised just $1,582 toward a $150,000 goal, according to the listing on GiveSendGo.
“So far Sergio Furnari has been investing his own money, energy, efforts and dedication into this colossal monument,” the listing reads. “Sadly, none of the politicians/entrepreneurs/supporters have contacted him.”
The fundraising campaign claims that Furnari has sold his own apartment to fund his project.

“Donors of any kind will have their name engraved on the monument's platform. So yes, your name will be eternally attached to Charlie Kirk,” Furnari said in the listing.
People who donate $500 will receive a 10" handcrafted bust of Kirk, while those who donate $250 will receive a 4" commemorative resin coin honoring him. Contributors that donate $150 will receive a 2" bust of Kirk.
“We've been receiving lots of threats and hate mail,” the listing said. “Our CharlieKirkMonument Tiktok was banned after the launch video went viral.”
Furnari said he plans for the monument to tour the United States after its debut in New York.
