The museum said Verity Partners threatened to cut off its telephone service during the transition to another carrier.
The Norton Museum of Art has filed a lawsuit against Verity Partners over its contract for telecommunications and network management services, arguing that the firm is effectively holding the museum’s telephone system hostage.
The lawsuit was filed Tuesday in a federal court in Florida and seeks compensatory damages for losses stemming from having to pay two telephone providers simultaneously, as well as attorneys’ fees and a preliminary injunction to require Verity Partners to provide the museum with the PIN to its telephony account.
The museum said in court documents obtained by Urgent Matter that it entered into its contract with Verity Partners in August 2015, but in February 2025, the museum sent written requests for the PIN and password associated with its telephony account.
