This page hosts the first amended complaint used in Urgent Matter’s reporting on the Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary’s insurance lawsuit against Philadelphia Indemnity Insurance Company.
The case, now in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, was removed from Collin County by Philadelphia Indemnity on July 30, 2026.
The museum’s first amended complaint was filed August 14, 2026, and lays out allegations including an underpaid hail and wind claim and an inspection the museum calls inadequate, as well as engineers it said were hired to minimize covered damage.
The lawsuit brings claims for breach of contract, Texas Insurance Code violations, deceptive trade practices, and breach of the duty of good faith and fair dealing.
