Two bike-riding bandits were caught on surveillance footage snatching perfume-bottle vases from a Subi Blooms installation in Western Australia, marring an annual, award-winning flower and art festival that transformed Subiaco for Mother’s Day weekend.

The installation outside Ecali Fine Jewellery was part of Subi Blooms x Gather, a free floral art festival that ran May 8-10 and brought 18 floral installations to the streets and storefronts of Subiaco under the theme “Flora Aurora.” The festival was billed as Western Australia’s largest floral art display.

The shop posted surveillance footage to Facebook showing two people in bike helmets outside the shop around 2 a.m. May 11. The footage shows the pair approaching the brightly lit floral display before one person appears to remove objects from the installation.

“Do you recognize these individuals who stole the vases from our beautiful Subi Blooms display. @theflowergirlperth spent so much time creating this beautiful display for us all to enjoy,” the shop said in its post. “So disappointing.”

Ecali Fine Jewellery owner Kerryn Hasler told PerthNow that 15 recycled perfume bottles were taken from the “vanity-style” display before the pair rode away on bicycles. Hasler said the theft was frustrating because the bottles had been repurposed for an installation meant for the public to enjoy.

The installation was created by Perth florist Clare Cummings, who spent about nine months collecting the recycled perfume bottles used in the work, PerthNow reported.

Police are investigating the incident, PerthNow reported. Authorities asked anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
