Melania Trump has unveiled this year’s Christmas decorations at the White House, which include a portrait of President Donald Trump made from Legos.
A photo shared by the White House shows the Trump portrait positioned symmetrically opposite of a second Lego portrait of George Washington in the Green Room, a formal parlor on the State Floor used for small receptions, teas and other official gatherings.
The White House said the two presidential portraits were “created from over 6,000 puzzle pieces” and offer families “the chance to be challenged, have fun, and use their imagination together.” Despite that description, the images show that the works were constructed from Lego bricks.
Both portraits sit on matching pedestal stands draped in dark green fabric, placed directly in front of tall windows. Above each portrait hangs a lit holiday wreath with a red bow, also made of Legos. The two are arranged as a mirrored pair flanking the central furniture piece, a tall wooden cabinet.
But their presence in the Green Room is striking. As the only Lego portraits on display, the two presidents are presented as a deliberate pairing, an effect that implicitly places Trump on equal visual footing with Washington.
The choice stands in contrast to the room’s surrounding works, formally collected and historically significant paintings, making the Lego portraits read as an unexpected counterpoint within one of the White House’s most traditional spaces.
The White House Historical Association notes that “remarkable works of art grace the Green Room walls” including, for example, a noted work by George P. A. Healy of President James Polk, Gilbert Stuart's portraits of John Quincy Adams and Louisa Adams and Henry Ossawa Tanner’s 1855 painting Sand Dunes at Sunset, Atlantic City. Tanner was the first Black artist added to the permanent White House collection.

The Lego portrait of Trump appears to be a recreation of his inaugural portrait at the start of his second term in January, in which the president wears a tight-lipped expression reminiscent of his Fulton County Sheriff’s Office booking photo after his 2023 arrest.
It is the latest of several new portraits the president has added of himself to the White House since returning to office, as noted by People.
It was not immediately known who created the Lego portraits for the White House. Urgent Matter has reached out to the White House for more information.
Melania Trump announced “Home Is Where the Heart Is” as the theme for this year’s decorations, and the décor throughout the Executive Mansion leans heavily on handcrafted ornaments and seasonal greenery.

“The constant movement has taught me that home is not merely a physical space; rather, it is the warmth and comfort I carry within, regardless of my surroundings,” Melania Trump said in a statement.
“This Christmas, let’s celebrate the love we hold within ourselves, and share it with the world around us. After all, wherever we are, we can create a home filled with grace, radiance, and endless possibilities.”
