This page hosts court records from Nighat Malik, on behalf of her minor daughter Jane Khan, v. Half Hollow Hills Central School District, filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

The case involves a First Amendment challenge to a Long Island school district's erasure of a student's pro-Palestinian parking spot artwork.

Khan, a Muslim American high school senior of Pakistani descent, alleged that the district violated her free speech rights when administrators painted over her parking spot art — which featured the phrase "Peace be Upon You," a watermelon with a keffiyeh pattern, and her name in English and Arabic — in September 2024, after community members complained on Facebook.

The case was settled and dismissed with prejudice on May 9, 2026.
